Wednesday 13th September 2023, 7.30pm. St James’ Community Centre, Morpeth.
With the Summer recess over (just as the fine weather arrives….), the Collingwood Society is all set to embark on its Autumn programme. As usual, September finds us in Morpeth, but this time at a different venue.
Society Chairman, Capt Stephen Healy, examines our hero, Admiral Cuthbert Collingwood, at the time of the great Battle of Trafalgar on 21st October 1805. But it is not just about what he did on the day and where he was, it is a wider look at Collingwood – the man – at this time. Where he was in his career, where he was in his family life, where he was perceived to be by Georgian society.
This September talk is always part of Morpeth’s Heritage Days events and, as such, is free entry to all. Guests welcome.
The St James Community Centre is just along from Morpeth bus station on Well Way, sat nav NE61 1BN.
